Ukraine, and with it the Bucha area, will switch to winter time on the night from Saturday to Sunday, 25 October. At 4:00 a.m. clocks will go back one hour to 3:00 a.m., so you can sleep an hour longer.
This follows from the Cabinet of Ministers resolution on calculating time, under which clocks are changed on the last Sunday of October.
Sunday will therefore last 25 hours: the period between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. will happen twice. Ukraine will return to UTC+2.
What to do
Smartphones, computers and smartwatches will change the time automatically if automatic date and time is enabled in the settings. Mechanical clocks, alarm clocks, microwaves, ovens and car clocks will need to be set by hand.
It is also worth checking your alarms for Sunday and the times of morning trips, so you do not arrive an hour early.
Is this the last time
On 16 July 2024 the Verkhovna Rada passed a law abolishing seasonal clock changes. Under it, Ukraine would have stayed on winter time permanently.
The law was sent to the president for signature in August 2024, but he has still not signed it, so it has not taken effect. That is why clocks will change again in spring, going forward one hour on Sunday, 28 March 2027.
As a reminder, the Bucha community has already started supplying heat to schools and kindergartens, with homes due to get it from 1 November.
