The Bucha community has become one of seven participating communities in Rebuild Green 2030, an international programme for the green and sustainable recovery of Ukraine. As part of the programme, a delegation from UN-Habitat, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, visited Bucha.

This was reported by Bucha City Council.

UN-Habitat representatives met mayor Anatolii Fedoruk, learned about the town’s recovery priorities and visited key sites.

The community is also taking part in the Rebuild Green Hackathon 2026. An international team, together with community representatives, mentors and experts, is working on a project called “Myrotske Lakes: barrier-free recreation and recovery”.

The aim is to come up with a realistic plan to turn the Myrotske lakes area into a modern inclusive leisure space. It should be accessible to veterans, people with disabilities and those affected by the war.

The online stage of the hackathon runs from 3 to 24 October, projects will be presented on 31 October, and the winners will be announced on 12 November in Warsaw. The winning team will receive expert support worth up to €50,000, the organisers say.

As a reminder, Bucha has also become one of four pilot communities for the national barrier-free plan.
