Residents of Zdvyzhivka in the Bucha community celebrated their Village Day together, recalling the rich history of their home. They thanked those who shape the village’s present.
This was reported by Bucha City Council.
Deputy Mayor Liudmyla Ryzhenko and village head Raisa Kozyr greeted the residents. On behalf of Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk, they presented certificates of gratitude to local volunteers who support the home front every day.
What volunteers and Zdvyzhanochka were thanked for
Among those thanked were local women volunteers who weave camouflage nets for the front. The community called these nets a reliable shield that saves defenders’ lives.
A separate certificate of gratitude went to Zdvyzhanochka, an amateur ensemble with the honorary title of a people’s ensemble, for preserving Ukrainian song and folk traditions.
In May, the ensemble marked 20 years of performing. Over these years, Zdvyzhanochka has won five Grand Prix awards at festivals and the “Culture Ensemble of the Year” award.
A golden wedding and respect for the oldest residents
Respected fellow villagers brought special warmth to the celebration. Vitalii Zakrevskyi and Valentyna Zakrevska were congratulated on their golden anniversary, 50 years of marriage.
Words of gratitude were addressed to the oldest residents of Zdvyzhivka: Vasyl Shkuratenko, Oleksandra Pryval and Volodymyr Shvydkyi.
Those present held a minute of silence for fallen defenders and everyone whose lives the war has taken.
How the 246 years are counted
According to Ukrainian Wikipedia, Zdvyzhivka was founded on 14 October 1780. “May Zdvyzhivka flourish, and may happiness and well-being reign in every family,” reads the starosta district’s greeting published on 14 October, the anniversary of the village’s founding.
Until 1947, the village had other names, among them Holyn, like the river that flows through it. From 25 February to 31 March 2022, Zdvyzhivka was under russian occupation.
As a reminder, the Patriots unit of Zdvyzhivka Gymnasium No. 14 welcomed new young Cossacks. The pupils took part in a traditional initiation celebration.
