A major repair of the drainage system has begun in the Yablunka district of Bucha. Residents of the private housing area have suffered from a high groundwater level for years.

This was reported by Mayor of Bucha Anatolii Fedoruk. He says all the rainwater from the district flows to the beginning of Yablunska Street.

How the repair came about

The technical specification was drawn up at residents’ request. Design and cost documentation was then prepared, passed an expert review, and the contract was tendered through Prozorro.

The contractor has already started work: pipes of various diameters and machinery have been delivered to the site.

Despite difficult times, this issue cannot be postponed any longer.

Where the water will go

Once the work is finished, groundwater will be diverted to the drainage canals of the Bucha river. The pond at the beginning of the street, where rainwater now collects, is due to be removed.

Fedoruk stressed that this concerns groundwater only, not sewage.

What will change for residents

The whole set of works is planned to be completed within a month. After that, a hard-surfaced roadway will be laid over the new system.

The mayor does not promise asphalt, but crushed stone and chippings will definitely be laid. Residents of the private district will then be able to drive out normally along both the lanes and Yablunska Street.

According to Fedoruk, the municipal company Dobryi Hospodar responded to residents’ request.

As a reminder, Irpin has started work on Sahaidachnoho Street, which was washed out after every rain.
