The peaceful Voices of Silence rally in support of prisoners of war and the missing took place in Bucha on Saturday, 31 October. Participants lined the Warsaw highway to remind people of those who are still awaited at home.

Bucha Naikrashche Misto reported this.

People held flags, banners with portraits and handmade signs. A small child stood with a cardboard sign reading “Bring my dad back”, and one participant raised a sign saying “Captivity kills”.

The longest banner took several people to hold. It bears dozens of faces of missing soldiers and civilians, under the words “We search, we wait”.

Every presence matters. Every voice is a reminder that they are being waited for.

How many residents are still awaited

The rally is held in the community every two weeks at the same spot, near the NOVUS supermarket at 104-D Kyievo-Myrotska Street. The previous ones took place on 3 and 17 October.

In September the city council said 188 residents of the community were still awaited at home: 148 are listed as missing and another 40 are in captivity.

The most recent prisoner exchange took place on 23 October, when 270 Ukrainians were brought home from captivity.

As a reminder, the day before we reported where the participants would gather.
