A tonne of common carp, grass carp and silver carp has been released into the lake in Bucha City Park. This is how the city will try to clean the lake without draining it, as had been planned earlier.
This was reported by Bucha mayor Anatolii Fedoruk.
He thanked residents for the expert advice they left under his previous post about the lake. At the same time, Fedoruk stressed that fishing here is strictly prohibited and the municipal guard will watch over it around the clock.
The fish are meant to help clean the lake, so the mayor asked anglers to choose other places to fish. The video shows the fish being released into the water.
Grass carp feed on soft aquatic vegetation. As early as the 1960s, they began to be introduced into lakes and ponds precisely to clear them of overgrowth.
Silver carp feed on phytoplankton, the microscopic algae, when the water blooms. They filter the green, murky water, which is why they are considered a natural way to improve water bodies.
As a reminder, in late October there were plans to drain the lake and clean its bottom. Draining was risky: a clay seal holds the water about 1.8 metres above the level of the Rokach river.
