The only goal came from Artem Hrokholskyi, who came on as a substitute in the 65th minute. In the 78th minute his first attempt was stopped, but he put the rebound into the net himself.
Soon afterwards Hrokholskyi could have doubled the lead, but Yuriiv goalkeeper Artem Pashchenko saved his one-on-one shot.
How Bucha held on until the goal
In the first half Denys Sabatiuk came to Bucha’s rescue: in the 12th minute he came out in time to meet Yuriiv’s number nine, and the shot hit the goalkeeper. The teams went in at half-time at 0-0.
After the break Bucha head coach Volodymyr Bondarenko made two changes. Dmytro Melnychuk replaced Kristian Turku, and Oleksandr Moroziuk came on for Mykyta Dzen, who had been booked in the 43rd minute.
Oleksandr Bondarenko came on in the 62nd minute, and three minutes later so did the eventual goalscorer Hrokholskyi. The game was originally planned for the Skylark Arena, but the venue is hosting the final tournament for over-35 veterans.
This is Bucha’s third win over Yuriiv this season: in the Kyiv Region League they won 4-1 in Bila Tserkva and 2-0 at the Skylark Arena. The return leg of the quarter-final will be played in a week.
