On 24 September, at its 93rd session, Bucha City Council accepted a UAH 83 million subvention from the state budget for building schools No. 1 and No. 2 and secured the necessary co-financing from the local budget. Work on both sites had been suspended because of delayed funding. The decision was announced by the mayor of Bucha, Anatolii Fedoruk, and his post was shared by the city council.

We expect construction of schools No. 1 and No. 2 in Bucha, which had been suspended because of delayed funding, to resume

What schools these are

Both schools are being built under the Ukraine Recovery Programme, co-financed by Bucha City Council and the European Investment Bank, with UNDP support. For school No. 1 this means reconstruction with an extension: back in February 2025 the council announced two tenders — for adjusting and extending part of the school and for three new buildings. School No. 2 is going up on the site of the old building: according to the mayor, it is a two-storey school for 402 pupils with 32 classrooms.

This is not the first money for school No. 1: in April the session approved a UAH 81.7 million state subvention and UAH 39.1 million of co-financing from the city budget. And in March the mayor said that construction had fully resumed, although delays in funding were holding back the pace.

Most of the money goes to the water main

The largest sum of the session goes to water. Deputies accepted a UAH 134.5 million state subvention for the community’s Resilience Plan, in particular to continue building the water main, and earmarked another UAH 33.6 million from the local budget as co-financing. In August we reported how the water main is being laid through five settlements.

For the army and for people

The session allocated UAH 15.6 million to support the Defence Forces of Ukraine and another UAH 3.2 million for social support of vulnerable groups.

At the same session the mayor explained why the reconstruction of Enerhetykiv Street is delayed.
