On 25 September a rehabilitation space for veterans opened at the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital. Here they will be able to continue their physical and psychological recovery, do adaptive sport and train. The opening was announced by the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, with details in the administration’s release.

Recovery does not end after hospital. It is important to be able to continue rehabilitation and gradually return to an active life

What the space offers

The space brings together medical rehabilitation, prosthetics, mental health support and physical activity. It will have an adaptive and inclusive sports ground, as well as the Kyiv Regional Adaptive Golf Club.

Who was involved

Tkachenko thanked the veterans for their service, as well as the medics, athletes, acting head of the Kyiv Regional Council Yaroslav Dobrianskyi and the project partners who helped raise off-budget funds. In his view, the space could become a model for other regions: “This is exactly the approach to rehabilitation that is worth scaling up.”

What is available closer to Bucha

In Bucha itself, rehabilitation after injuries is available at the outpatient rehabilitation unit of the consultative and diagnostic centre. We have also reported that the city is building a state Veterans’ Space that will serve veterans from the whole district. Questions on veterans’ policy can be put to the Unified Veterans’ Line 1528.
