Bucha district took most of the damage from the Russian drone attack on Kyiv region overnight and in the morning of 22–23 September. According to the regional military administration, 14 of the 18 damaged sites across the region are in this district, and three men were injured.

The consequences were reported by the head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, the police of Kyiv region, Bucha city council and the State Emergency Service of Kyiv region.

What exactly was damaged

In Bucha district the list includes six private households, a warehouse, a production-and-warehouse building and an administrative block, the grounds of a municipal utility, an administrative building, an infrastructure facility and two cars. For comparison: two private households were damaged in Obukhiv district, a production building in Fastiv district and an infrastructure facility in Vyshhorod district.

Myrotske: blown-out windows, damaged roofs and cracked walls

In the Myrotske starosta district of the Bucha community, falling debris from an enemy drone damaged at least six private households. Blown-out windows, damaged roofs and cracks in the walls were recorded.

Emergency workers, police, the village head and departments of the city council are working at the scene. The “eVidnovlennia” compensation commission came out to the site itself so that owners of damaged homes could file their claims straight away.

Three men injured

A 76-year-old man was wounded in Bucha district: shrapnel injuries, facial abrasions and emotional shock. He was treated on the spot. Two more men were taken to a local hospital — one with an open forearm fracture, a lacerated brow and a chest contusion, the other with a lacerated wound to the forehead.

Firefighters had to keep breaking off for shelter

According to the State Emergency Service of Kyiv region, a production-and-warehouse building was damaged in the district, while at another address crews put out a burning car and a metal cabin on the grounds of a municipal utility, with an administrative building damaged nearby. The warehouse fire took longest: “Because of the many air-raid alerts and the threat of repeat strikes, rescuers have to pause work from time to time and go to shelter.”

Ten alerts in a single day

On 23 September the air-raid alert was declared in Bucha district ten times: at 00:21, 03:02, 05:55, 08:43, 10:21, 13:52, 15:05, 16:19, 18:54 and 20:26. The longest quiet spell of the whole day was under an hour and a half — from 12:29 to 13:52.

One of those alerts, at 16:19, stopped a cup match at the Yuvileinyi stadium ten minutes from the end of extra time: the ground was cleared and the teams went to shelter — the game was only finished after the all-clear.

What to do if you find debris

The police ask people not to approach debris or other suspicious objects, not to touch them, and to call the 102 emergency line straight away.
