Borodianka Settlement Council has presented a practical guide, How to Make Buildings and Structures Accessible for People with Limited Mobility? 10 Simple Steps. It is recommended for designing, building and renovating facilities in the Borodianka community.

This was reported by Borodianka Settlement Council.

The guide was developed by the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories on the basis of building code DBN V.2.2-40:2018, Inclusiveness of Buildings and Structures. It is meant to help communities, architects, businesses and building owners adapt spaces without heavy theory.

The steps include step-free paths to the entrance, parking spaces for people with disabilities, ground-level entrances, compliant ramps and lifts, contrasting stairs with tactile strips, and doors without thresholds with lever handles.

The guide also recommends two-level reception desks, tactile and visual navigation with Braille, clear space inside rooms and inclusive toilets with handrails.

The presentation took place as part of the Barrier-Free State campaign at the request of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

As a reminder, in August veterans checked the accessibility of the future Veterans’ Space in Bucha.
