Forty-one named trees were planted in Irpin on 22 October during the third commemoration of fallen soldiers and civilians. Each tree is dedicated to a person whose life was taken by the war.

This was reported by Irpin’s first deputy mayor Oleksandr Pashchynskyi.

In total, 161 trees have now been planted in Irpin over three events: lindens, maples, rowans and plums. Name plates have been attached to the saplings.

The trees are looked after by staff of the municipal company Urban Improvement Department. The organisers also want it to be a place where families can come to honour their loved ones.

The next planting in Irpin is planned for the spring.

As a reminder, 60,000 Dutch tulips are being planted in Irpin.
