The programme reimburses entrepreneurs for equipment that lets them work without mains power: battery packs, inverters, portable power stations. For small businesses in Irpin this is a question of survival — a venue that closes at every outage loses both revenue and customers.

Oleksandr Pashchynskyi, First Deputy Mayor of Irpin, announced the working group's decision on his Telegram channel. The funds will be paid once the executive committee approves the decision.

Who will receive compensation

Veteran Maksym Lisnytskyi, owner of the Tbilisiya eatery in Irpin, will receive 80,000 hryvnias — he bought battery packs to keep the restaurant running. A further 78,400 hryvnias goes to combat veteran Oleksandr Bolotov, who works in the manufacture and machining of metal products: he purchased an inverter and a battery system for his enterprise.

Veteran Petro Savka, owner of the upholstery cleaning business Miakyi Dim, will also receive 80,000 hryvnias for battery packs. The total sum of approved compensation is 272,900 hryvnias.

The first compensation for a defender's family member

The fourth applicant was Anna Kozhemiaka, owner of Nuestro Tango School and the wife of a combat veteran. She will be reimbursed 34,500 hryvnias for the portable power stations she bought.

Her case stands apart: after amendments to the programme she became the first among family members of defenders to use the opportunity. Previously only veterans themselves were eligible — widening the circle makes it possible to support families where the wife runs the business while the husband serves.

The closed loop here is obvious: taxes from local enterprises return to veteran entrepreneurs as compensation, and they in turn maintain jobs in the community.
