Irpin hosted the Kyiv Region TechnoForum for the second time — a platform for sharing experience of community digitalisation. This year it brought together 70 participants from 12 communities in four regions and Kyiv.

This was reported by Irpin’s acting mayor and council secretary Anzhela Makeieva.

Participants discussed how to introduce digital solutions so that they really work for people, make it easier to deal with the community and speed up local government.

I have repeatedly told our international partners that we are perhaps the only country in history that, during a full-scale war, is not only rebuilding but also introducing new approaches to community development.

What already works in Irpin

By the national digital index of communities, Irpin is among the top three of Kyiv region’s 69 communities. According to Makeieva, this was achieved over the past two years.

The community uses DREAM, a public investment management system. All reconstruction and new projects are gathered in one place and open to everyone.

At the executive committee all IT network points were upgraded, guest internet was launched and the council’s data protected. Documents moved to electronic workflow, and the administrative service centre expanded its services and cut the time needed for certificates.

With UN-Habitat support, a spatial map of Irpin has been developed for planning. The community is now receiving the product and integrating it into its systems.

What is planned

The community team is updating the Irpin City Council website and building a mobile app, Irpin in Your Phone, which is meant to bring the services and information residents need into one place.

Separately, they are working on digital accessibility of all platforms so that everyone can use them fully.

As a reminder, Irpin’s social taxi for veterans has already made almost 300 trips.
