The five-storey block at 11/6 Borysa Hmyri Street in the Nova Bucha residential complex in Bucha is 90% ready. The main works are expected to be finished by the end of the year, after which residents will be able to move back into their restored flats.

This was reported by Bucha City Council after a working meeting on the site.

The meeting brought together deputy mayor Dmytro Cheichuk, representatives of the client, the Kyiv Region Restoration Service, the company Atlant and residents of the building. They agreed work schedules to speed up the final stage.

The rebuilding is funded and run by the state through the Restoration Service. The city council says it keeps the process under control so that people can return home as soon as possible.

Following the meeting the parties set out the next steps and agreed how to work together. We expect the main works to be completed by the end of the year

What happened to the building

The building was hit by russian shelling in early March 2022. One of its sections was completely destroyed and another was badly damaged, the Restoration Agency reports.

In July 2022 the worst-hit part was taken down. Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk shared video of the demolition at the time, Suspilne reported.

Video from the Kyiv TV channel shows how the destroyed section was taken down on 25 July 2022.

The block has 45 flats. According to the Restoration Agency, 110 residents will return home once the works are complete.

How the contract changed

The works were commissioned by the Restoration and Infrastructure Development Service in Kyiv Region. On 8 August 2023 it signed a UAH 80.3 million contract with Trest KMB-3, with completion due by 29 February 2024, Prozorro data show.

The scope was later expanded. In December 2024 the Service ordered additional works worth UAH 4.95 million from the same contractor, and in June 2025 another UAH 30.3 million. This part covers finishing the flats, corridors and entrance halls and landscaping the grounds.

The design was revised several times, and the main contract has been extended to the end of 2027. The State Audit Service reviewed the 2025 contract for additional works and found no violations.

Trest KMB-3 is listed in Prozorro as the general contractor under all three contracts.

What remains to be done

In the rebuilt section the roof, basement and wiring are complete. Gas boilers, plumbing, doors and lights have been installed in the flats, and tiles and laminate laid.

In the damaged section all windows and balcony units have been replaced and gas, water and electricity connected. Still to come are the roof over this section, the facade, the entrance, connection to the outdoor gas main, and landscaping with a playground.

As a reminder, in Makariv a section of a block was demolished down to its foundations and rebuilt, and 15 families have already moved back.
