The rehabilitation space for service members and veterans at the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital has added another form of recovery: adaptive golf. The sessions train coordination, balance and concentration.
This was reported by Acting Head of the Kyiv Regional Council Yaroslav Dobrianskyi.
Yaroslav DobrianskyiActing Head of the Kyiv Regional CouncilIt may seem like an ordinary game. A club, a ball, a hole. But for someone who has been through war, suffered a serious wound and is learning to live in new circumstances today, it is much more than sport.
People can play standing or sitting. Nobody competes for medals here: every accurate shot, Dobrianskyi says, is another small step towards a big goal.
Yaroslav Dobrianskyi himself published a video about the new activity on Facebook; the post can be viewed below.
The rehabilitation space at the hospital opened on 25 September. It combines medical rehabilitation, prosthetics, mental health support and physical activity, and is also home to the Kyiv Regional Adaptive Golf Club.
Dobrianskyi separately thanked Alexandr Mostipan, whose financial support made the project possible. He also measures the result of rehabilitation by the moment when a person smiles again after a serious wound and reaches a goal.
As a reminder, a rehabilitation space for veterans has opened at the Kyiv Regional Hospital.
