The Irpin local history museum has presented the catalogue of the ninth open plein air "Painted Irpin" named after Volodymyr Sydoruk. The edition is titled "Golden Autumn in Irpin", and its cover carries the town footbridge over the river — one of the most recognisable subjects of the plein air.

No common theme this year
Unlike previous years, the organisers set no common theme — each artist decided for themselves what to put on canvas. The result is a deliberately mixed display: autumn landscapes hang next to town bridges, private homesteads among pine trees and entirely abstract works.
This year 49 artists from different parts of Ukraine took part — the largest number in the history of the event. Across nine plein airs the participants have produced almost seven hundred paintings devoted to Irpin.
A separate award for a local artist
A cash prize went to the Irpin artist Vladyslav Zadvorskyi for the painting "Self-portrait in Irpin". The award was established by the co-founders of the "BRAVE" society, Volodymyr Karpliuk and Volodymyr Spivak, which also provides steady funding for the plein air.
The tradition began in 2017, started by the then mayor Volodymyr Karpliuk and the honoured artist of Ukraine Kostiantyn Mohylevskyi. Since then the plein air has drawn writers, translators and painters from across the country to the town.
The anniversary tenth "Painted Irpin" plein air opens on 3 October. It is organised by the culture, nationalities and religions department of the city council together with the local history museum.
