Komarivka in the Makariv community held a charity fair for its village day. Home-made treats and handcrafted goods brought in 36,300 hryvnias in a few hours.

What was on sale

The stalls were stocked with what people had baked and made at home: pastries, home cooking, handicrafts. The fair was set up inside the Komarivka community centre and ran for a few hours — as long as the celebration itself.

Where the money goes

The proceeds will support Ukraine’s defenders and the further work of the Komarivski Nezlamni volunteer workshop, which operates in the village.

For a village workshop such a collection is not a symbolic gesture but literally the materials for the coming weeks. Volunteer groups in the Bucha district live mostly on one-off collections — and regularly say they are short of materials.

In the same community this month 317 people have already had a free 40+ health screening — Makariv is covering with its own resources what used to require a trip to Kyiv.

As a reminder, the Library Spiders in Bucha weave camouflage nets for the front — and they, too, depend on people who care.
