The session took place right on the grass under the pines: participants rolled out their mats and the practice began in the morning, while the park was still cool. Anyone could join regardless of their level — the programme was built so that the asanas would work even for first-timers.
The results were announced by the Irpin Youth Parliament, which organised the session together with instructor Oleksandra Nykyforuk; the report was published in the parliament's post.
Three thousand one hundred and fifty-five hryvnias from a single class
Participation was by donation, and 3,155 hryvnias were collected during the session. The funds went to a joint fundraiser by the Kostia "Stambul" Yuzviuk Memorial Community and the Come Back Alive foundation. The money goes towards MAUL unmanned ground vehicles for casualty evacuation for the First Separate Medical Battalion.
Such vehicles carry the wounded out of areas where it is too dangerous for medical transport to drive — open ground watched by enemy drones. The medical battalion uses them where evacuation on foot would put an entire group at risk.
"After difficult nights it is especially important to find time to recover"
"After difficult nights it is especially important to find time to restore your own resources. Initiatives like this help not only to care for your physical and mental state, but also to support those who defend our country every day. Thank you to everyone who joined the session and the fundraiser," the Irpin Youth Parliament said.
During the class participants performed asanas, breathing practices and exercises aimed at restoring physical and emotional balance. Breathing techniques in such programmes are not a decorative element: they are what lowers anxiety levels after nights of air raid alerts.
A format that has taken root in Irpin
This is not the first open-air charity class run by the Youth Parliament — previous fundraisers also covered specific items for the military. The scheme is simple and transparent: an announcement, a weekend morning, a donation instead of a fixed fee, and a public report on the sum raised.
Central Park suits such events best: it sits in the middle of town, with shade and level lawns. For Irpin, which was a front line in 2022, the very possibility of gathering there for a morning practice remains a story in itself.
