The Irpinvodokanal utility has received five new generators with a combined capacity of 375 kilowatts. They will help Irpin keep its water running when the power goes out.

This was reported by Oleksandr Pashchynskyi, first deputy mayor of Irpin.

The generators were provided with support from the Ministry of Energy. They are an extra resource to keep the community’s water supply and sewerage running without interruption.

In total the utility now has almost 50 stationary and mobile generators. They cover its key facilities, and the largest have both main and backup power sources.

This year the community also optimised its backup power: several wells were connected so that one generator can run them. This makes better use of the equipment and saves fuel.

As a reminder, in August residents of Irpin and Hostomel were advised not to drink untreated well water because a tributary of the Irpin river had been polluted.
