Irpin is marking 125 years since its founding today, 10 October. The official starting point in the city’s history is 1901, as set out in the Charter of the Irpin community.

This was announced by Irpin City Council. The same day marks 70 years since Irpin was granted city status.

Back in September, acting mayor Anzhela Makeieva explained how the community would mark the anniversary during the war.

Of course, we will not hold any lavish celebrations. We will focus on helping our defenders and add to the artistic glory and achievements of our native city.

What was renovated for City Day

For the holiday, the amphitheatre was renovated in Neznaika park: the stage and seating were repainted and damaged boards replaced. A new children’s area is being installed on the embankment and is due to open by City Day.

As a reminder, on the eve of the anniversary Irpin hosted the Siaivo Irpenia children’s contest, and the city received equipment worth EUR 5.7 million to clear rubble.
