An outpatient comprehensive rehabilitation unit is working at the Bucha Consultative and Diagnostic Centre. It helps people recover after wounds, surgery, strokes and injuries, and treats patients with musculoskeletal conditions. For veterans, released prisoners of war, the families of the missing and the fallen, and children with disabilities the sessions are free.

Bucha City Council announced this on 14 September.

What the unit has

The unit offers physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions on equipment suited to different groups of patients:

  • a treadmill, exercise bikes and elliptical trainers;
  • machines for the upper and lower limbs;
  • a standing frame for people with spinal injuries;
  • lymphatic drainage equipment and other rehabilitation kit.

The unit’s specialists help choose a recovery programme individually, depending on the diagnosis and the patient’s condition.

  • bereaved families;
  • children with disabilities.

What patients say

Under the council’s announcement residents share their experience. The doctor’s consultations are praised, but people note that the unit occupies the cramped premises of a former X-ray room: all the machines are in one small room, and it is awkward for anyone on crutches. Several commenters write that civilian patients are offered paid services only.

In reply, the diagnostic centre acknowledged that the small size of some rooms “may cause certain inconveniences” and said the administration is carrying out repairs and updating equipment, although enlarging the existing premises is not always possible.

As a reminder, in early September Bucha held two blood-donor days — 83 donors on the first day alone.
