A Volkswagen car and a Yamaha motorcycle collided on Shevchenka Street in Bucha: the 35-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene.

Kyiv region police reported this on Sunday, 20 September.

According to the police’s preliminary findings, the 42-year-old Volkswagen driver, turning left, failed to give way to the motorcycle coming the other way. The rider died of his injuries at the scene. The police do not give the exact date of the crash — “the other day”.

What the driver is charged with

Investigators of the Kyiv region police investigation department have opened a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — a violation of road safety rules by a person driving a vehicle that caused the death of the victim. The article carries three to eight years of imprisonment, with or without a driving ban of up to three years.

As a reminder, on 16 September in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka in the Bucha district a drunk Hyundai driver hit a woman on a pavement — the pedestrian was hospitalised and the driver detained.
