The comprehensive Defender of Ukraine programme runs in the Borshchahivka community and provides cash assistance to service members, veterans and their families. Each type of assistance is paid once a year.

How much is paid and to whom

The amounts depend on the category:

  • people with war-related disabilities: group I — UAH 35,000, group II — UAH 30,000, group III — UAH 25,000;
  • service members needing treatment after a wound, concussion or injury: severe injuries — UAH 70,000, minor — UAH 30,000;
  • defenders released from captivity — UAH 20,000;
  • one family member of defenders missing in special circumstances or held captive — UAH 20,000;
  • children under 18 of fallen or deceased defenders — UAH 20,000; the application is filed by a legal guardian.

How to apply

Applicants must be registered and living in the community for at least three months. For internally displaced people, actual residence counts.

Applications are accepted by the council’s Department of Social and Veterans Policy at 5 Shkilnyi Lane, Sofiivska Borshchahivka. Consultations by phone: 067 696 24 77 and 068 312 18 85.

What else is planned for veterans

The council already discussed the Defender programme on 22 September at a working meeting with the founder of the Brotherhood of Kind Hearts foundation, the deputy head for social affairs and representatives of social services.

They decided to step up outreach so that people clearly understand what help they can get, who is eligible and where to apply.

They also discussed a veterans’ space in the community. A land plot for it was allocated at one of the recent council sessions; the next step is a concept for the project.

As a reminder, Irpin’s social taxi for veterans has made almost 300 trips.
