A peaceful rally in support of captured and missing Ukrainian defenders will be held in Makariv on 29 August. It starts at nine in the morning by the Taras Shevchenko monument.

This was reported by Makariv Settlement Council.

Residents are invited to join and support the families who are waiting for their relatives.

"Remembering the fallen, supporting those in captivity and hoping for the return of the missing — these are the things we must speak about and keep reminding people of," the council said.

The date was not chosen by chance. On 29 August Ukraine marks the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders who died fighting for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.

As a reminder, ten defenders returned from captivity on Independence Day.
