Obolon beat Kudrivka 2-0 in a friendly the two sides played on Saturday, 26 September, at Obolon’s training base in Bucha. The first half ended goalless. Taras Liakh opened the scoring in the 51st minute, and in the 76th a Kudrivka player was sent off, Obolon were awarded a free kick and Andrii Lomnytskyi scored the second. The result was announced by Obolon. Kudrivka said their side created enough scoring chances but failed to take them.

The game filled the international break: Kudrivka’s next competitive match is against Veres of Rivne on 3 October.

How it happened

The friendly was not streamed, so the course of the game is known from Obolon’s text updates and Kudrivka’s summary. The hosts lined up with Kyrylo Barantsov, Shevchenko, Andrii Lomnytskyi, Skryhun, Kapinus, Kulakovskyi, Myshnov, Matkevych, Serhii Sukhanov, Denys Tesliuk and Taras Liakh. Kudrivka did not publish their line-up.

Kudrivka were the sharper side in the first half. In the 14th minute one of their players hit the crossbar with a powerful shot, and in the 23rd Svitiukha cut in from the flank and forced a save from goalkeeper Kyrylo Barantsov. Obolon replied with a free kick in the 35th, won by Denys Tesliuk, but Serhii Sukhanov fired over.

The second half settled it. Taras Liakh opened the scoring in the 51st minute, and in the 76th Kudrivka were reduced to ten men: after their player was sent off Obolon were awarded a free kick and Andrii Lomnytskyi scored the second. Kudrivka’s own summary gives the 52nd and 75th minutes.

What this game is

With the Ukrainian championship paused for international matches, Oleksandr Antonenko’s Obolon are playing two friendlies at their base in Bucha: on 26 September against Kudrivka, and on 3 October at 14:00 against LNZ of Cherkasy. For Kudrivka it is preparation for the return to the UPL: on 3 October they finally play their postponed sixth-round match against Veres.

The two sides have already met in the league this season: on 15 August, in round three, Kudrivka and Obolon drew 0-0.

Where they stand

Neither team has won in the Premier League yet. Obolon after seven rounds have four points and are 15th; Kudrivka have two points but have played a game fewer. In the last round Yevhenii Smyrnyi scored twice against Kolos, but the opponents’ third goal in the 55th minute proved decisive — 2-3.

What comes next

Kudrivka play Veres in Rivne on 3 October at 13:00 and travel to LNZ of Cherkasy on 11 October. Obolon, after the break, host Kryvbas in the eighth round of the UPL on 10 October.
