Fifteen families from the block at 62 Dymytriia Rostovskoho Street in Makariv have received the keys to their restored flats. One wing was damaged so badly that it had to be demolished completely and rebuilt from scratch.

What the building looked like after the fighting

In March 2022 the block was left with a shattered roof and a wrecked facade, and one wing was destroyed outright, leaving dozens of people without a home.

The war forced these families to leave their homes. One of our main tasks today is to restore damaged housing and create conditions for people to come back and continue their lives in comfort.

What was done

Besides rebuilding the destroyed wing, the facade was insulated, the main structures and utility networks restored, flats in the rebuilt part repaired and communal areas finished.

A basic shelter with access for people with reduced mobility was fitted out in the basement, and the grounds around the building were landscaped.

Who paid

The work was financed by the Fund for Liquidation of the Consequences of Armed Aggression under a state programme. The client was the Restoration and Infrastructure Development Service in Kyiv region.

The main contract was signed in the summer of 2023 for more than 47 million hryvnias, with almost 7.7 million more added in autumn 2024 for additional work.
