War veterans from the Irpin community, Eduard Kulakov and Dmytro Ryzhko, have taken first places in the overall standings of the fourth stage of the Ukrainian Cup in strongman all-round.

The competition took place in Rivne.

Eduard Kulakov won gold in holding a 38-kilogram dumbbell. It is an endurance discipline: whoever holds the weight longest wins.

Dmytro Ryzhko took three gold medals in individual disciplines.

Strongman all-round is a strength sport combining lifting and holding heavy implements, carrying weight and throwing events.

For veterans such starts are not only sport. They are a way to rebuild the body after injuries and to prove that the limit lies much further than it seems.

The Ukrainian Cup runs in stages in different cities, with winners decided on combined results.

As a reminder, the Irpin cycling school travelled to a marathon in Germany.
