The documentary “Azovstal. Shelter of Love” was screened at the city library in Irpin. The film tells the love story of soldiers Andrii Subotin and Valeriia Karpylenko.
This was reported by the Irpin City Council.
An important part of Andrii’s life is linked to Irpin: he lived here, started his first family here, and his daughter was born here. His parents, who helped make and screen the film, still visit the city.
In May 2022 Andrii and Valeriia married in a bunker at Azovstal while completely surrounded. A few days later Andrii was killed.

The film’s screenwriter and director is Stanislav Suknenko. The council thanked him and Andrii’s parents for keeping the family’s story alive.
As a reminder, Bucha and Irpin honoured service members on Defenders Day.
