The water in the Irpin river within the Irpin community is normal. Restrictions on fishing and on using water from the river are being lifted — the river may be used without limits.
The results were announced by first deputy mayor Oleksandr Pashchynskyi on the Irpin City Council website.
Two water samples were taken from the Irpin river and sent to the microbiological laboratory of the Kyiv Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health.
«And here is the result: both samples meet the requirements set by Order No. 721 of the Ministry of Health of 2 May 2022. That conclusion is stated directly in each laboratory report.» Oleksandr Pashchynskyi said.
The reason was news of contamination in the water bodies of Borshchahivka and fears that the substances might reach Irpin. The Borshchahivka river is a right tributary of the Irpin, so its water flows further downstream.
The community decided to check the water itself, without waiting for instructions. The samples were taken on 14 August, and residents along the river were then advised to take temporary precautions.
The lifting applies specifically to the Irpin river within the Irpin community. A separate general ban on swimming in water bodies remains in force across Bucha district, unrelated to the contamination.
Neighbouring Borshchahivka, where it all began, has not lifted its restrictions: drinking water is still delivered to residents who use wells near the contaminated ponds.
As a reminder, Borshchahivka has started handing out purification tablets with drinking water.
