The cause of the water contamination is still being established. Specialists have already taken samples for laboratory analysis, while an investigative team and the commission on technological and environmental safety are working on site.

What is banned until the circumstances are clear

Residents have been told not to swim in local water bodies, not to take water from them and not to fish. Separately stressed: do not use water from wells or boreholes.

That last point matters most. If the contamination has reached groundwater, the danger extends beyond the pond itself to private sources nearby — and there are many of them in the community's yards.

How people are being supplied with water

Because of the restrictions, a drinking water delivery schedule has been set — along Leonida Kadeniuka, Zarichna, Naberezhna and Berehova streets, forty minutes at each stop.

Village council staff are handing out leaflets and putting up warning signs by the water, to reach those who do not read announcements online.

Why access was closed now

The restriction stands until laboratory results are in. Until then it is impossible to say what exactly poisoned the water — and therefore how dangerous it is to people.

Three tonnes of dead fish indicates the scale: this is not an isolated case but what specialists call a mass die-off.
