The Banksy mural The Gymnast Girl at 136 Severynivska Street in Irpin has been fenced off. On social media this immediately led to suggestions that the work might be dismantled, destroyed or closed to the public.

The situation was explained by Irpin first deputy mayor Oleksandr Pashchynskyi.

According to him, the fence is connected with work to landscape the area around the mural and has been put up temporarily.

Once the work is finished, a Banksy square open to everyone will be created here.

The mural appeared in Irpin after the liberation of the Kyiv region and became one of the symbols of what the town went through in the spring of 2022.
