On Proskurivska Street in Hostomel a new residential complex is being built on the site of houses destroyed in the fighting in 2022. It is about 20% complete.

This was reported by the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development.

What has been built so far

Work is now under way on the first and second phases: blocks No. 2 and No. 3 and the protective structure. Before that, the destroyed structures were fully dismantled, and foundations and basement waterproofing were put in.

Brickwork in the basements of both blocks has been completed. Vertical elements are going up in the shelter, while floor slabs are being laid and the upper floors bricked in the blocks.

What the new neighbourhood will include

The project has six phases: 360 apartments in seven-storey blocks to replace 272 that were destroyed. Separately, an underground dual-purpose radiation shelter for 1,212 people is being built.

In peacetime the shelter will serve as a sports complex, and in times of danger as a protective structure, the agency explains.

The 144 apartments in the first two phases will go first to families who lived here before the full-scale invasion, the ministry said in July.

The agency announced the rebuilding of the former military town back in January 2026, when it launched the first tender.

As a reminder, in neighbouring Borodianka walls are already going up for a new block on the site of a destroyed nine-storey building.
