Young karateka from the Bucha community have won eight medals at the open Kyokushin karate championship of Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district in the kumite category. The tournament took place on Saturday, 3 October.

This was reported by Bucha City Council.

Maksym Zhovtan and Ihnat Zhmykhov became champions. Silver medals went to Yaroslav Zhovtan, Tymofii Prykhodko, Kira Protsenko and Lev Tsybulskyi.

Bohdan Meshcheriakov and Matvii Pryshchepa took bronze. Kumite is sparring against an opponent, where athletes show their striking and defence techniques.

The council notes that despite the difficult security situation the young karateka keep training and competing.

As a reminder, in September young kickboxers from Bucha brought two golds back from the Kyiv Cup.
