The Borodianka community was represented at a workshop on compensation mechanisms for lost and damaged housing by Mariia Koshka, head of the administrative services centre.

Her participation was reported on the Borodianka settlement council website.

The event took place in Kyiv on 17 and 18 August under the full title: practice in applying national and international mechanisms of compensation for lost and damaged housing — experience, challenges and professional development.

Participants worked through practical questions of access to compensation, handling registries, difficult cases and cooperation between institutions — precisely where people usually get stuck.

The discussion brought together representatives of state bodies and local government, lawyers, non-governmental organisations and specialists working on legal and humanitarian support for those affected.

In the background of the event photograph one can see the logos of the organisers: the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service and its Higher School of Public Governance, the International Organization for Migration and the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union.

The council puts it plainly: a significant share of the community's residents suffered because of the full-scale war, so housing compensation here is not a theoretical subject.

The knowledge gained is meant to improve the work of the administrative services centre — the office through which residents file their compensation documents.

As a reminder, in Makariv fifteen families received keys to their restored flats.
