Inspectors of the Kyiv Fish Protection Patrol have found two cases of illegal sale of aquatic bioresources — in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka in the Bucha district and in the town of Vyshneve. In total they seized 920 crayfish weighing 31.5 kilograms.

What was found

The inspection took place on 21 September. At both points the goods were sold without documents confirming that they had been acquired lawfully. Administrative reports were filed against the offenders under part 1 of article 88-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences.

A document of origin is how a seller proves that a crayfish did not come from a poacher’s net but from a legal farm or a lawful catch. Without that paper the goods count as illegal and are seized, no matter where they are sold — in a shop by the road or from a stall under a sign.

This is the second time in a week

A week earlier, on 14–15 September, the patrol already recorded the purchase of 200 crayfish weighing seven kilograms without the proper documents in Sofiivska Borshchahivka — a report was filed under the same article. During the same round inspectors found six kilograms of pike-perch without documents at the Stolychnyi market and the sale of a crayfish trap in a shop in Brovary.

Sofiivska Borshchahivka and Vyshneve are the most densely populated part of the Bucha district on the border with Kyiv, and trade here runs right along the roads. These are the points the patrol checks most often.
