Two sports classes have opened in the village of Chaiky in the Borshchahivka community — at the Chaiky gymnasium and at Birlik School, the only Crimean Tatar lyceum in Ukraine. It is part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports project Path of Champions.

This was announced by the Borshchahivka village council.

What Path of Champions is

The aim of the project is to create conditions in which children combine a full school education with systematic sports training and develop in sport without leaving school.

A three-way memorandum was signed for it between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Borshchahivka village council and the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. Deputy minister Oleksii Nikitenko signed on behalf of the ministry.

For Birlik School a separate memorandum was signed — specifically on running the project at the Crimean Tatar lyceum.

Who came to the opening

Guests included Elvin Kadyrov, representative of the Commissioner for the rights of residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol; Oleh Savluchynskyi, co-founder of the SPLAV charitable foundation; Larysa Lakhtadyr, head of the community’s department of education, culture, youth and sport; school heads, coaches and young athletes.

“Despite the war, our children must study, train, develop and win. Our task, together with the state and partners, is to create the opportunities for that,” said community head Oleksandr Medvid.
