The owner has been abroad since 2022: forged papers for his house surfaced in Bucha

A man in Bucha has been served with a notice of suspicion of fraud — investigators say he forged documents and tried to sell someone else's house.

This was reported by prosecutors.

The suspect learned of a private house in Bucha whose owner has been outside Ukraine since 2022. A home with nobody left to watch over it.

He then forged the papers for the property, investigators say. The house was put up for sale through an estate agent.

The sum he attempted to obtain was more than 108,000 US dollars.

Schemes involving the property of people who left is a separate category of case that appeared in Kyiv region after 2022. Houses abandoned during evacuation become targets precisely because their owners are gone.
