Twenty-four people for the whole country. Community youth get a voice at the presidential level

The chamber was created by presidential decree within the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities — the body that represents communities' interests at national level. Until now it had no separate platform for young people.

The results of the inaugural meeting were published by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine.

One delegate per region

The chamber brings together 24 representatives — one from each region of the country. The meeting was chaired by Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Office of the President and Chair of the Congress Presidium.

The Kyiv region was represented by Iryna Romanenko, head of the regional youth congress — as reported by the Bucha District State Administration. That means the interests of young people in every community of the region, from Bucha and Irpin to the smallest villages, are voiced at this level by a single person.

Who was elected to lead

The delegates elected Iryna Monastyruk, head of the Youth Council at Odesa City Council, as Chair of the chamber.

Three deputies were chosen: Anastasiia Paseshniak of the Chernivtsi region, a student at Yuriy Fedkovych University; Oleksandr Nesterenko of the Donetsk region, chief engineer at a municipal heating company; and Yekaterina Savaieva of the Kherson region, head of the student parliament at the agrarian and economic university.

What it means for communities

Members of the chamber will represent young people's interests, take part in decision-making and promote initiatives for community development.

The practical point of the structure is feedback: what young people formulate locally now has a channel to reach the level where national decisions are made.
