The decision follows the massive strike on the night of 5 August, when 24 ballistic missiles, four Zircon- and Oniks-type missiles and 115 drones were fired at the capital and the region.

This was announced by the Bucha District State Administration.

What the day of mourning involves

As a mark of grief, the State Flags of Ukraine will be lowered to half-mast across the region. Separately, entertainment events are restricted — this applies both to venues and to public spaces.

For the Bucha district this means that concerts, festivals and other entertainment events planned for Thursday will not take place or will be postponed.

Why this particular strike

The attack was among the heaviest in recent months. The main targets were warehouse premises of civilian enterprises; infrastructure and a railway station were also hit. In the Bucha district four civilians were killed and seven more were injured.

"This strike has proved once again: Russia is deliberately waging war against civilians, choosing terror over peace," the district administration said.
