The group left under the Borodianka community's programme for children's health and recreation, which covers 2026 to 2028. This means the trip is not a one-off but part of a three-year plan with its own funding.

Who makes the list
The places went to children in need of special social attention and support. That category usually covers families in difficult circumstances: children of the fallen and the missing, from low-income and large families, under guardianship, or with disabilities.
For Borodianka, bombed from the air in March 2022 and left with dozens of destroyed apartment blocks, this category is wider than in an average community. So whenever a chance arises to take children away, it is used for them first.
Why Prykarpattia
The Ivano-Frankivsk region remains one of the safest destinations for children's holidays: the distance from the front line and from the main enemy drone routes allows a session to pass without nightly air raid alerts. That is where children from Kyiv region communities have been taken in recent years.
Ahead of the children are new acquaintances, activities, creative classes and events planned for a full session. For many it is the first chance in a year to sleep a night without a siren.
Not the only strand of the programme
Children's recreation in the communities of the Bucha district has grown in scale this summer: neighbouring Irpin reported almost two thousand children who had holidays funded by the budget, partners and twin cities, while Bucha scouts spent theirs at a Polish scout camp on the Baltic.
The settlement council wished the children good spirits, new friends and better health. The return date of the session was not stated in the announcement.
