Hostomel has presented the book "Surviving in Hostomel: 21 Stories from a Hero City" — a collection of eyewitness testimonies from the Russian occupation of the settlement. The event took place on 27 July.

This was announced by Hostomel Settlement Council.

The publication gathers 21 personal accounts from Hostomel residents — people who spent weeks of the occupation in basements, under shelling, next to the Antonov airfield that became one of the key targets of the Russian airborne assault in the first days of the full-scale invasion.

Collections like this serve a double purpose. For the community itself, it is a way to record what was lived through while memory is fresh and those involved can still speak for themselves. For investigators and international institutions, documented eyewitness testimony is material that will serve war crimes cases for years to come.

Hostomel, like Bucha and Irpin, fell under occupation in the first days of March 2022. The settlement effectively became the front line: fighting for the airfield lasted weeks, while civilians who had not managed or been able to leave remained in their homes without electricity, water or communications.

The presentation was held in the community with the participation of residents — the very people whose stories the book contains.
