Residents of Bucha district can take free short courses at state colleges in three fields: confectioner, tailor and hairdresser.

The intake was announced by the Right to Protection charitable foundation.

The courses are for people living in Bucha district of Kyiv region — except the Bilohorodka, Borshchahivka and Vyshneve communities. Displaced status is not required: locals who never left may apply too.

Residence alone is not enough, however. An applicant must meet at least one of twelve vulnerability criteria.

They include raising a child alone, chronic illness, income below the minimum wage, three or more children in the family, caring for sick relatives, disability and temporary unemployment.

Veterans and their family members are listed separately, including families of those killed, along with people who lost relatives to the armed aggression and survivors of sexual or gender-based violence.

Applications for a chosen course must be submitted by 27 August inclusive. The organisers promise to announce the selection results by 5 September.

There is no gender restriction: the form sets no separate quota, so both men and women may apply.
